Later in the term in the ups and downs of our courses, we learned about the importance of managing changes, crises, and emergencies. Great captains are tested in the storms, and managers and leaders are tested in a crisis or emergency. We have to be prepared for emergencies and for the ups and downs of life. “Be Prepared”, the Boy Scouts motto, was created by Lord Baden-Powell not only for emergencies, but also to be prepared to “become productive citizens and to give happiness to other people”. We have to be ready to cope the storms of life.
While we were reflecting about these concepts, hurricanes Gustav and Ike made impact in the US while another “financial hurricane” hit Wall Street. Here is the cartoon that combined the hurricane forces taking a bull’s skull.
